This particular project looks into how to tackle the effects of Botrytis in the vineyards in a sustainable manner, focusing on the use of strains of wild yeasts that have an inhibiting effect on this fungus. In order to ensure different soil and climate conditions are covered, there are three different wineries participating from diverse locations, these being Bodegas Otazu S.A., Bodegas Inurrieta S.L. and Bodegas Principe de Viana S.L. The effect of these different yeasts is also being analysed in the winemaking process. All this to make sure that the use of chemical fungicides is avoided wherever possible, helping Nature by generating sustainable fungi control methods with 0 impact on the environment.
Other companies participating in the Biovid project are:
– Blue Agro Bioscience, SL. (Project Coordinator)
– UPNA (Navarra Public University)
– L’UREDERRA, Development Foundation.
